Hummingbird offers friendly and informal art classes taught by experienced working artists, suitable for any students wishing to improve their skills or knowledge.

The 10 week term costs £100 and consists of 20 hours, that is just £5 an hour. Lessons are with the experienced teacher and painter Bar Spurr. All materials and equipment will be provided free of charge by the studio.

After School Art Club at Hummingbird 2017Classes will resume Wednesday
April 26th 2017 then moving to the Methodist Church in Stanford Avenue til half term.
Jill covers a mix of painting, drawing, sculpture, ceramics, printing
and textiles over the year to give the children a broad range of
experience. She also aims to cover art styles from different historical and
geographical traditions as well as a mix of craft, design and fine art.
This second half term is a 7 week block.

Upcycling Workshops for 2016
New dates for 2016
Day workshops use environmentally-friendly and very versatile chalk paints and other lovely materials!
In this fun, relaxing and sociable workshop you will learn how to use
chalk paints to transform your furniture. No artistic expertise or
experience is necessary and all course materials are included.
Topics covered include how to achieve the distressed or "shabby chic"
look, how to give furniture a crackle effect, how to stencil, decoupage
and gild furniture. We will also look at how best to paint wicker and
how to give wood a "wash" effect. There will also be time to discuss
where to source unique pieces for your home and what products are
available to achieve the effects you will learn.
Tea and homemade cakes are served to you on beautiful vintage china and the emphasis is on enjoyment!

Clare runs all classes from her home
All levels of ability are welcome and I
encourage you to experimenting with not just the tile mosaic, but old crockery,
found objects and things that are precious or special to you. These can be
incorporated in the simplest of plaque to larger pieces of furniture like small
chairs, boxes etc.
